Thankfully, winter is now long gone, the spring rains have all but disappeared and the weather has taken a turn for the better now that summer is on its way. With the sun shining, the temperature is now a lot warmer, and the days are longer so that we can all enjoy it more. That means that it is time to start taking advantage of the good weather and make the most of enjoying the fresh air, getting out in our gardens, making full use of our local parks and the savouring the British countryside.

There are lots of ways to enjoy our outdoor spaces this summer, whether that is in our own gardens, at the park, camping, beach visits or family days out.

We have been trying out some great products to have fun with the kids outside and even products to help look after the garden. Items that we have been trying out include a portable wireless speaker and wireless earbuds so we can just sit and relax in the garden whilst listening to music (it is also perfect for picnics or at the beach), toys and games like Trampoline Tennis and Throw Throw Burrito Extreme Outdoors Edition to keep the kids and the family active and entertained. We have even been trying out sports equipment with a beginners badminton set so that we can enjoy the sun whilst keeping active and getting some fun exercise, a foldable scooter that is lots of fun and for those that like to enjoy their outdoor space by tending to their garden we have been using the Qwickhose hose connectors that make watering the garden or washing the car less easier. All fun and enjoyable things to do.

For the next few months, hopefully we will have some enjoyable sunny weather so that we can enjoy our outdoor spaces as much as we can. Being outdoors in the sun has some excellent health and wellbeing benefits, it’s not all about having fun – apart from topping up our tans (if that’s your thing) and soaking up the sun to help create that all-important vitamin D to keep our bodies healthy, being outside in the sun has been shown to lower stress levels, can help lower blood pressure and heart rate, and is great for encouraging physical activity (which can be something as simple as going for a walk or something more energetic like going for a run or playing football). Just remember that whilst you are outside for whatever reason, to apply sunscreen and wear a hat etc. to keep your skin protected, just 10 minutes exposure to strong sun can burn the skin and lead to other problems later in life. Also, remember to keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water. For expert advice on sun safety, visit the NHS website. How ever you decide to do to enjoy the outdoors this summer, respect your surroundings and remember to put your litter in the bin (and if you can’t, take it home with you and dispose of it correctly).

We hope to be trying out new things to enjoy the outdoors, adding new reviews to this feature throughout the summer. When the sun gets too much, and you want to relax indoors in the shade for a short while, keep checking here for new ways to make the most of the outdoors this year, be it with your partner, your kids, your family or friends or just by yourself.

This summer, get outside soak up the sun, breath in the fresh air and have fun which whatever you are doing.
