FIFINE Ampligame H6 Gaming USB Headset Review

with Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound

Ampligame H6

We live in a digitally connected world and have lots of gadgets and gizmos for our entertainment. Our entertainment choices are wide and varied but lots of us enjoy playing games on our computers and games consoles with our friends, family and other players from the gaming community. Gaming these days can be a worldwide experience when we play against other players over the internet, and to fully enjoy the experience we need to be able to communicate with other players which requires the addition of extra equipment in the form of a gaming headset such as the FIFINE Ampligame H6 Gaming USB Headset.

FIFINE are probably best known for microphones (we reviewed their Ampligame A8 USB Microphone with RGB Lighting earlier this year), but now they have released the Ampligame H6 Gaming USB Headset with Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound and RGB Lighting and we couldn’t wait to try it out.

The Ampligame H6 Gaming Headset is a lightweight, budget-friendly (under £50) wired headset for Windows PCs / Laptops, MAC and PS4 / PS5, unfortunately it cannot be used on Xbox. It features USB connectivity, a removable, flexible omnidirectional microphone, stylish RGB lighting on each ear cup, Virtual 24-bit 7.1 Surround Sound and 3 EQ modes (Games, Music and Movies).

When our headset arrived, the first thing we noticed was the weight – the headset is very lightweight.

In the box:

  • USB Gaming Headset with Inline Control Unit
  • Detachable Microphone
  • Instructions

The headset is very lightweight, but not flimsy and seems very well constructed – it weighs 330g with the microphone attached. It is a wired headset and has a very generous 6.6ft (2 metres) cable length with an inline control unit. The headset has an adjustable headband and very soft padded ear cups.

Once the headset is plugged in to a computer or PS4 / PS5, each ear cup has RGB lighting effects that constantly move in a loop, giving the headset some personality with the rainbow colour effects (although there seems to be no way to turn off the lights should you want to). The lights are great, not too bright or distracting, a nice novelty that makes the headset more interesting.

Wearing the headset is so comfortable, allowing for extended use when playing games, watching a movie or listening to music. Because they are very lightweight you don’t really notice them on your head and the padded ear cups are soft enough that they are not compressing your ears or head, and the don’t overheat the ears.

Whilst this headset is a good weight, comfortable to wear, looks good and is extremely easy to control the functions, the most important thing with any headset is the sound – and the sound is excellent, so much better than you would expect from a sub £50 gaming headset. The sound is good and clear from the 50mm drivers that are quite close to the ears, but with the 7.1 surround sound function enabled, the sounds are awesome – especially when playing games, you can hear the smallest of details like footsteps creeping up behind you.

As for the detachable microphone, it is excellent. It is easy to remove or attach when needed, is very flexible so can be adjusted to the best position and it picks up sounds with clarity. It can easily be muted when you don’t want to use it (with a push of a switch on the inline control unit), displaying a red LED on the microphone so that it to shows when it is muted.

On the inline control unit that is on the wire, you can select from 3 different EQ modes to quickly and easily select the best sound for the ultimate listening experience. We love that the inline control unit is a very good size and not fiddly to use, it is easy to see and use and you can control all the headset functions fast and one handed without having to stop what you are doing; muting/unmuting microphone, volume levels, EQ modes and enabling/disabling 7.1 Surround Sound function.

Overall, the FIFINE Ampligame H6 Gaming USB Headset is great for gamers who are looking for a quality headset, but on a budget. It features balanced and rich sound, with cool lighting effects and all day comfort. The headset is very easy to use, sounds great and comfortable to wear for long sessions. It’s just a pity it doesn’t work with my Xbox.

A great budget-friendly gaming headset that delivers on comfort, ease of use and audio quality. The 7.1 Surround Sound function is excellent, and the choice of EQ modes definitely improves the listening / gaming experience. The only thing missing is a protective carry bag so that you can always have them with you.
