We live in a digital age where we do lots of tasks online using our phones, laptops and tablets. If you spend a lot of time on the internet streaming on social media platforms, playing online games, podcasting or just on video calls then a good microphone is an essential part of hardware. Lots of people might just use the microphone built in to their device or use a headset with a microphone, but for those of you that want to upgrade to a desktop microphone then the FIFINE Ampligame A8 USB Microphone is great – not only is the quality of the recording excellent, but it looks great with its selection of switchable RGB colours.
The FIFINE Ampligame A8 USB Microphone is perfect for online gamers and social media content creators, excellent for chatting/video calls/meetings and is a fantastic microphone for work or leisure activities. It is a budget desktop USB microphone (from £50 to £52 depending on what colour option you want; black, white or pink), complete with a shock mount and pop filter, but despite its budget-friendly price it doesn’t have a budget sound and is so simple to setup and use.

Out of the box it is very easy to set up – just plug in the USB-C end of the cable into the base of the microphone and the USB-A end into a USB port on your laptop, desktop computer or PS4/5. Then you open your “sound settings” (if using a Windows OS, just right-click the speaker icon on your taskbar) and change and settings you need to – i.e., input etc. Note: make sure that you use the USB cable supplied with the microphone – I used a USB-C cable that I already had plugged into my laptop, and it didn’t work with the microphone but the one supplied worked without any issues.
Once the microphone is plugged in you are ready to use it straightaway and the RGB lighting effects on mic really make it stand out from others – and no, the lighting effects are not there to compensate for poor quality audio, the recording quality is excellent.

- MUTE BUTTON: The touch mute button on the top uses a red and green LED light to easily indicate the working status.
- POP FILTER: This is not just a style feature; it will block plosives in your sentences from entering the microphone to eliminate unwanted “bpf” noise.
- SHOCK MOUNT: The microphone is mounted on a stand with shock resistance to offset any vibration from your desk.
Overall, the FIFINE Ampligame A8 USB Microphone is an excellent quality desktop microphone. It removes the need to be constantly wearing a headset with a microphone whilst allowing you to chat with friends and colleagues, play games with friends, live stream or record audio with ease and all at a very high quality sound – anybody listening can clearly hear what you have to say.
The quality of recordings and live chat is absolutely excellent quality, crystal clear clarity with low-cut frequency response and decent mids and highs. The shock mount and removable pop filter are excellent for filtering out unwanted sounds.
The FIFINE Ampligame A8 USB Microphone also allows to monitor sound in real time with no latency issues by having the option to plug in headphones into the base of the mic, so there is no need to be playing around with settings.
It is compatible with PS4/5, PC, and macOS – we used it with ease on a Windows 10 laptop and apart for the initial problem of using an incompatible USB-C cable had no issues with it – it is so simple to use: you can mute/unmute at the touch of a button, the lighting effects can be turned off or cycled through at the touch of a button and you can easily increase/decrease the gain by turning the knob at the rear of the mic.
The lighting effects are excellent with seven colours that you can choose from to blend in with any room setup and the lighting can be turned off easily when it is need for more serious activities such as online work meetings for example. We love the RGB lighting, it’s not too bright that it hurts the eyes but not so dull that it has no real aesthetic effect. When using it in a darkened room to play games it looks cool.
The Ampligame A8 USB Microphone is also supplied with a boom arm connector and is very easy to fit and very sturdy to use. The microphone is suspended on the stand using rubberised shock mount protection which works extremely well against vibration through the desk, especially when the desk is knocked, and the microphone is easily adjustable to have it at different angles. My only very small niggle is I would have liked the USB cable to be able to go through the stand just to make it look a bit tidier but that really is just personal preference and probably being a little bit picky.
We love the FIFINE Ampligame A8 USB Microphone. The sound quality is perfect, ease of install and use couldn’t be simpler and the RGB lighting adds eye-catching detail to an otherwise understated piece of hardware and can easily be changed to match any room or computer setup.
The FIFINE Ampligame A8 USB Microphone is a budget-friendly microphone with excellent sound and features, for around £50 it is definitely worth the price – it sounds great, looks great and is so easy to use.
