Gas Out Review

2-6 Players | Age 5+

Gas Out

You have gathered around the kitchen table for family game night, all the snacks and drinks are ready and then there is a sound, a sound that cannot be mistaken for anything else – the sound of a fart followed by hilarious laughter from the kids. No, the kids haven’t sat around the table and started letting rip, the game they want to play is called Gas Out – a card game where trying not to pass gas is the object of the game. Guster the Gas Cloud™ is full of intestinal discomfort and he’s ready to rip! Get ready for some hilarious family fun. Toilet humour at its tooting best.

Gas Out is a hilarious card-based party game for 2-6 players aged 5+. It is a game of passing your cards without passing gas!

In the box:

  • Guster the Gas Cloud™
  • 56 Gas Out Game Cards
  • Instructions

Gas Out is a very simple game to play and easy to set up. Before playing, batteries need to be installed in Guster, the green gas cloud. It requires 2xAA batteries which come supplied with the Gas Out unit, as Guster is set to demo mode in the packaging they might not be at full power. If you need to change the batteries, just unscrew the battery cover on the base of Guster and put in new ones.

The deck of cards contains NUMBER CARDS (1 to 5), SKIP CARDS (X) and REVERSE CARDS (left and right arrows). The number cards tell players how many times to press Guster the Gas Cloud, the skip cards (have an X on them) skips the next player, and the reverse cards (have left and right arrows on them) reverses the order of play.

Setting up to play is simple. Switch Guster to ON (you can also switch to OFF or DEMO – if left in demo mode it will fart every time it is pressed). Place Guster in the centre of the table (it is best to be played on a hard surface such as a table to get the maximum sound effect). Shuffle the cards and deal each player 3 cards. Place the unused cards next to Guster, these become the draw pile. You are now ready to play.

Playing the game couldn’t be easier. The youngest player goes first by placing any card from their hand on the table – if they put down a number card they press Guster that number of times, if Guster doesn’t fart that player is safe and picks up a new card from the draw pile (you must always have 3 cards in your hand). If a skip card is played the next player skips a turn (the game is played clockwise around the table). If a reverse card is played, the game is then played anti-clockwise. If at any time Guster farts whilst pressing him, that player is eliminated. Play continues until there is only one player left who is declared the winner.

Overall, Gas Out is a simple, quick and hilarious game to play – an excellent game to play to WIND down of an evening. It is a game that whole family will enjoy and everybody can easily join in (as long as you have a sense of humour and don’t mind a big blast of a backend blowout, without the smell, from Guster).

The kids loved playing this, they were in fits of giggles every time Guster let loose with one of his loud windy bottom burps – and if the adults weren’t laughing along, we would be trying our best to stifle a laugh (usually without success).

The only downside of this game is lack of storage. The box cannot be used to store the game with its open front, and unfortunately the cards are loose – they do not have a box to store them in (I had to purchase a plastic playing card box to store them). With no storage it lends itself to cards being easily lost.

If you are looking for a simple and fun game for your family game nights or an easy game that the kids can play among themselves, I can recommend Gas Out. Simple and quick to play and lots of laughs.
