Christmas toy shopping is always a bit of a minefield. Every year there is always that one toy that the kids go mad for, but no one ever has any stock of, so it is very difficult to source creating a massive hype and the MUST HAVE toy. That leaves everyone pondering on what would be a suitable alternative to get their kids that would be just as much fun, or even better, much more fun.
With the countdown to Christmas now started, Amazon has released its top toys for 2020, to hopefully inspire Christmas gift ideas.

Even though Amazon have narrowed down the list, there is still a lot of choice. Last year, the girls were L.O.L Surprise mad so we have been looking at the L.O.L dolls and playsets but the choice is large and varied. But we have had a bit of a helping hand in trying to make decisions as for review we received the L.O.L Surprise! O.M.G. Remix Honeylicious Fashion Doll with 25 surprises (there are three other dolls available in this collection with Pop B.B., Kitty K and Lonestar).
So what is the L.O.L Surprise! O.M.G. (Outrageous Millennium Girls) Remix Honeylicious Fashion Doll? Well, when it arrived the kids were over the moon as it more than just a doll. In the box there is the Honeylicious Fashion Doll complete with 25 surprises to make up her two outfits. But as already mentioned, it is more than just a doll; the box comes with a pink record (for younger readers, a record is a vinyl disc that us oldies used to listen to music – and I see that they seem to making a comeback), with the box doubling as a record player.
Honeylicious is an articulated doll so she can be posed in different ways and is about 23cm tall, has thick black hair braided with pink strands and has stunning features. She looks like a Hip Hop star or DJ. For L.O.L fans I am reliably informed by the kids that Honeylicious is the big sister to one of the original smaller dolls, Honey Bun. Part of her 25 surprises are clothes, shoes and accessories including her own laptop mixing desk to create her own music and a music magazine featuring her lyrics on the record. Her outfits of a short denim skirt and camo trousers are quite funky and detailed.
The box itself even has different uses which saves creating excess waste. First up, the internal box can be used a backdrop Honeylicious, as well as a storage box. The outer box is a record player, which is kind of cool. You place the plastic record, called Honeylicious Da Mix (this record will not play on a real record player), on the box and start it spinning with your hand to start “playing” the record and hear the music, quite a neat feature.
The kids are absolutely delighted with the L.O.L Surprise! O.M.G. Remix Honeylicious Fashion Doll and her 25 surprises and music. They loved unboxing and revealing her surprises (what child doesn’t these days) and have loved changing her outfits and turning her into a music mogul (her hands are even removable to make dressing and undressing her easier), singing along to the record and generally using their imaginations to play (gets them off their screens and enjoying imaginative play together).
For L.O.L fans or children that love playing with dolls, this fashion doll is excellent for imaginative play. Not only do you get a posable doll with the own backstory, you get two changes of outfits complete with garment bags but the box can also be used as storage, a backdrop for the doll and a record player.
The L.O.L Surprise! O.M.G. Remix Honeylicious Fashion Doll would make an excellent gift for any doll loving children on Christmas morning, she certainly went down well in our house and we will have to look at completing the collection to bring the four friends and band together.
It is great to see kids playing with actual toys rather than a screen or device of some sort. Whilst the electronic gadgets and screens have their place, toys are excellent tools for imaginative play, creativity and social interaction and the L.O.L Surprise! O.M.G. Remix Honeylicious Fashion Doll is perfect for playtime.
