My Squishy Little Dumplings Review

Can you resist the squish!?

Dumplings

We are always on the lookout for gift ideas and stocking fillers for the children, especially at this time of the year with Christmas looming. We love to see the girls playing as these days it is far too easy to let screens take over, effectively becoming entertainment babysitters and stifling children’s imaginations. Over the past few year’s collectibles have become really popular and it seems that each year a new collectible is the thing to have so we were delighted to receive the My Little Squishy Dumplings from WowWee! A toy to play with, collect and encourage the use of a child’s imagination.

My Squishy Little Dumplings are a small collectible range of dolls suitable for children age 5+, there are currently four to collect (Dee, Dip, Doe and Dot) with more to follow. They are dolls that are just a big head (that fits neatly into the palm of your hand) until you squeeze their cheeks and then their bodies pop out from the base of their heads – can you resist the squish!?

Each Dumpling comes with 2 surprise accessories in a hexagonal box (a lot bigger than is actual needed for the doll but will definitely appeal to children and it opens up to reveal their own language translation, how to play with them etc.). The Dumpling itself fits easily into your hand. Each character has 50+ reactions depending on how you play with them – squeeze, shake, toss, hold upside down, they all initiate different reactions, and each Dumpling is unique with each having their own different sounds and styles. And they even speak their own language – Squish-pop!

Exercise isn’t just important for the kids; the Dumplings love to move too. You can shake them to illicit silly sounds. They love to play catch, which brings out lots of fun and more sounds. If you squeeze them twice you can hear their favourite song and holding the squeeze will make them giggle. You can even tell what mood they are in as their heads change colour with each colour representing a different mood (happy, amused, silly, dreamy, loving etc.).

When you are done playing, if you leave them alone every 30 seconds they will make sleepy noises and after 4 minutes will go to sleep (turn off).

Overall, the girls have loved the My Little Squishy Dumpling and want the others to go with Doe (the character we received). Rather than just being a plastic toy that you unwrap and don’t do much with, My Squishy Little Dumplings are fun and unique. They all look a bit different, all have different interests and personalities and have their own language (there is a limited translation list in the box: Totes Cayoot is Totally Cute, Woo Coo is You’re Cool and Woo Loo-Loo Teem is Nice to Meet You).

They children love that the head changes colour depending on the Dumplings mood and the noises that it makes as you throw it through the air and the fact that you can accessorise it with sunglasses, hair bows etc.

It does require 3x LR44 button batteries and they are supplied. These can be changed when needed and require a Phillips screwdriver (the batteries are under a screwed down cover for safety).

My Squishy Little Dumpling are a collectible toy that are interactive and fun and would make an excellent gift or stocking filler this Christmas.
