“Baby shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, Baby shark“. These are the innocuous ten words that will have adults running for the hills as it must be one of the most annoying songs EVER! An evil earworm that just burrows and burrows and sticks in your head like a broken record on loop or a child asking “are we there yet?”. Or maybe that’s grumpy old me as kids seem to absolutely love it. Pinkfong have managed to turn this old campfire song/chant into a worldwide phenomenon. And when something gets that big, along come the toys that every child MUST HAVE!
We have a big Baby Shark fan in our house and was absolutely delighted when we received the Sing & Snuggle plush toy to review. This is a soft and cuddly, bright yellow Baby Shark (she already has a blue singing Daddy Shark, so was delighted to add to it). But this is more than a cuddly toy, it sings the Baby Shark song, plays Peek-a-boo and is also a nightlight.
Features:
- Play all day or sleep safe and sound
- Day Mode sing the song or use the play mask to play the peek-a-boo game
- Night Mode turn off the lights or cover eyes with the play mask to sing the goodnight lullaby
The Baby Shark Sing & Snuggle is a soft plush toy that can be played with all day and snuggled to sleep all night. Put Baby Shark into Day Mode by pressing on the day fin and it will sing the (in)famous theme tune or use the sleep mask (supplied) to play Peek-a-boo. But when it is time for bed and playtime is over, press the other fin to place Baby Shark into Night Mode and the top fin will light up and the Goodnight Baby Shark song will play (at a slower speed than the standard Baby Shark song) to send you off to sleep. When the soothing lullaby finishes, the fin nightlight will stay on for a further three minutes.
Overall, we think that this is excellent – especially for Baby Shark fans of any age! It is a super-soft plush, with a very bright yellow body and it is extremely cuddly. As annoying as a lot of adults will find the catchy song, the kids love it, and the slower lullaby addition is perfect for bedtime.
It is so much more than a singing cuddly toy. The light sensor technology allows it to know if it is dark/night or if the sleep mask is on for night mode or when playing peek-a-boo, responding differently to different light conditions.
It does require batteries (2x AAA batteries, supplied) so make sure that you have some spares in. There is no need to worry about children gaining access to these as they are in a compartment with the cover screwed down underneath the toy behind a Velcro opening. (And for parents that have had just enough of the Baby Shark song, this is also where you can turn it on and off).
This interactive toy is perfect for daytime playtime as well as the more sedate and winding down time of bedtime.
