Edifier CC200 Wireless Mono Headset Review

Free from constraints for more efficient studying or working from home

CC200 Mono Headset

The way people work has changed over the past two years, moving from office to home back to the office and now lots of places offer hybrid working – some days in the office and some at home. Home working will not be suitable for everyone, so you have to now discover what works best for you. If you are working from home on whatever basis, having the correct equipment is a must. If your job involves spending a lot of time on the phone, a headset with microphone might be the best way to go to free up your hands for working (making notes, typing into the computer etc.).

There are lots of headsets on the market and we were asked to try out the Edifier CC200 Wireless Mono Headset, a Bluetooth headset with adjustable boom microphone and an extremely impressive battery life. We were trying it for home working, general hands free calling and for the children to use whilst studying (hopefully comparing notes and discussing problems with homework with their friends and not idly chit-chatting, we hope – although as BT and Bob Hoskins said many years ago, “it’s good to talk”).

The Edifier CC200 Wireless Mono Headset is perfect for working or studying from home or using at the office. It offers superior audio quality, comfort and fit with a battery life that will last all day. You can take hands-free calls or enjoy music with impeccable clarity!

We use laptops in our house a lot for work, homework/studying and play. Sometimes we get so involved in what we are doing that stopping to pick up a ringing phone just isn’t an option – answering the phone isn’t so much the problem but having to hold it whilst trying to do something else is. Using a mono headset is definitely the best idea – it leaves our hands free to continue doing whatever else we need to be doing, that could be typing away on the laptop or looking up something, discussing and finishing homework with friends or even just playing games, and as it only has one ear-pad you can still hear other people in the house if they need to speak to you. The Edifier CC200 Wireless Mono Headset is perfect for the job. It is a light-weight mono headset (only covers one ear), just like the ones you’ve all seen worn in big offices and call centres, and is totally wireless, connecting to your phone via Bluetooth.

It’s light-weight construction is a must, especially when wearing it for long periods of time but it also features other qualities such as crystal clear sound for calls and music playback and an extremely impressive battery life with enough power for 29 hours of call time or 64 hours of music playback. And it only takes 90 minutes to fully charge using a USB-C connection.

When we removed it from the box, the first thing that we did was put it on charge of 90 minutes. It did come with charge in it, but we wanted a full charge before using. It is supplied with a USB-C cable but no power adapter (it can be charged using your phone adapter, USB socket on the wall or just plug it into your laptop or computer).

Once charged, we had to pair it to a phone. This really is a simple process. On first use out of the box, once powered on it automatically goes into pairing mode (LED flashing green and red) and you can then select it from your device list on phone. If you need to pair it again to another device, when the headset is off just press and hold the power button for 5 seconds and it should enter pairing mode again, the LED will alternate between green and red to indicate that it is in pairing mode, and you can select it from your device list. It is so simple a child can do it (and they did when asked to pair the headset to their phones).

Once paired, it was ready to use. Using it is simple. To answer a call just press the phone button located on the microphone (press and hold for 2 seconds to hang up a call and press twice to redial). If you need to mute a conversation when in a call, just press the power button (this does actually mute the microphone and not turn the headset off). You can adjust volume levels using the + and – buttons.

Overall, we found the Edifier CC200 Wireless Mono Headset a very good wireless headset for making/taking calls whilst being able to keep our hands free to work. The sound quality is excellent – the noise-cancelling dual mic with DNN noise reduction technology really does block out background noises very well so that the person on the other end can hear you really clearly. The sound through the one earpad is also clear and rich.

The boom microphone is very flexible and easily to manoeuvre into the best position for different users and can be used on the left or right ear. It feels very robust when adjusting it.

Whilst the crystal-clear call clarity is impressive, the battery life is even more so – 29 hours of talk time, 64 hours if you just use the headset to listen to music and it only takes 90 minutes to reach 100% charge.

If you spend a lot of time on your phone whilst working, then the Edifier CC200 Wireless Mono Headset is definitely a tool that you need so that you can work or study more efficiently. It frees up your hands so that you can continue to work, and it is so light-weight that you actually forget that you are wearing it. It can even be connected to multiple devices allowing you to easily switch between calls on two different phones.

The Edifier CC200 Wireless Mono Headset is a fantastic little headset with perfect crystal-clear audio, so comfortable to wear and really easy to use. Just what everybody who must keep their hands free whilst working or studying needs. Perfect for any office or home office.
