Technology has advanced so much over the years but people still enjoy listening to their music, podcasts and steaming audio. With everybody owning a portable tablet, gaming devices and phones there can be so many completing sounds creating a cacophony of noise, which can by rather annoying for other people around them. That still leaves a need for headphones/earphones, making them quite an essential piece of equipment. I was delighted when the Edifier P265 Earbuds arrived for review, especially as I love Edifier speakers – for me, they have always been of high quality, so I had high expectations for the earbuds.
I have always found Edifier products very stylish and excellent quality. With their speakers they have always managed to create a stylish product, although there isn’t a great deal you can do with an earbud (after all, they are quite small and hidden within your ear). That said, these earbuds do look good with their red (wire), grey (earbud) and black (eartips) colouring.
The Edifier P265 Earbuds are a wired set of in-ear earbuds rather than Bluetooth. They come with a microphone and controls for volume and call answering on the wire and a 3.5mm stereo connector. The cable length is 1.3 meters. Out of the box they are already fitted with a set of silicone eartips, with 2 more pairs of different sizes in the box – so should fit all ear sizes (small, medium and large).
I have always had problems with silicone tips on earphones (I do prefer ones that don’t have them) as I find that they don’t always stay in my ear, but with these Edifier P265 earbuds I found them to fit perfectly (and I didn’t have to change the eartips to a different size). Apart from a good secure fit the most impressive thing was the comfort, they are really soft and I wasn’t always aware that I was wearing them. Another point to note is that the back on the earbuds tapered so that they are ergonomically designed to fit between your fingers easily making them much easily to handle and insert into the ear.
As for the sound, they were perfect, but then I have come to expect them with Edifier products. As the eartips fit extremely well it ensures that they have very good noise isolation – they don’t let any background sounds in or let too much sound out. While I was using them there was no distortion, even at high levels and they produced crystal clear sound.
The controls are on the wire near the left earbud. It is very easy to change volume and tracks at the press of a button.
Most people these days tend to use earphones with a smartphone and these ensure that you can still make and receive calls as they have an inbuilt omnidirectional microphone. Again, the sound was crystal clear for the caller at the other end of the phone. The controls to answer a call are on the remote by the left earbud, making it very easy to use.
Overall, I am very impressed with these earbuds. They are extremely comfortable, they fit extremely well and have perfect well-balanced sound. I would love to see them in a Bluetooth version just to do away with the wire. With a retail price of £27.99 they are very well priced and definitely value for money.
