When I was a child, dominoes were a game that was about matching tiles with numbers. Today the kids use dominoes to build and set them to fall over, and the kids love them. We were delighted when the Dynamo Dominoes from Hape arrived for review. I hove Hape toys as they are good quality and have great educational value.
The Dynamo Dominoes are a set of brightly coloured wooden rectangle tiles for making dominoes trails. The set contains 100 dominoes and has some extra accessories, bridge, bell, rails and ball etc. to add some tricks into your track (there are 107 pieces in total).
The great thing about this dominoes set is that there is no right or wrong way to play with it. As long as the dominoes are built in lines so that each domino can fall against the next in line and knock it over the only limits are your imagination and the number of dominoes you have (we have incorporated 2 other sets into ours now to make much bigger and grander designs). This makes it an excellent toy for encouraging imaginative play, problem solving skills, spatial awareness, social skills, creative play along with developing fine motor skills and patience.
The dominoes measure approx. 5.5 x 3.5 x 0.8cm so are perfect for small hands. They are quite light and come in seven colours (light blue, blue, green, orange, red, yellow and wood).
With the addition of the trick pieces you can add a little bit more fun to your designs. These pieces add the ability to build your track up stairs, ring bells, push a swinging bar and even roll a ball along rails to start the dominies falling when the ball hits the first domino. They really do make your designs a bit more unique, imaginative and fun!
Overall, this is a great set. Who knew that dominoes could provide so many hours of fun? Made from wood and painted with water-based paint they are good quality, safe and just the right size. They are great fun with educational aspects where the children are not even aware that they are learning new skills.
The kids have had hours upon hours of fun with these dominoes and have put them through a lot and they are still in great condition. They have had hours of fun with them and even watch YouTube videos of other people and their dominoes creations to inspire them to create bigger and more complicated designs. A full 5 stars from them!
