When you start your search for a new pair of headphones, the choice out there can be overwhelming. We have been trying out a new pair of wireless headphones that we think are fantastic and will hopefully narrow down your choice; Edifier’s W830NB Wireless Over-Ear Headphones.
The Edifier W830NB Wireless Over-Ear Headphones offer a compelling mix of features and performance, especially considering their budget-friendly price point.
Edifier’s W830NB wireless headphones have a sleek and simple design with soft earpads that ensure a comfortable fit for extended listening sessions. They are lightweight, making them easy to wear for long periods without discomfort. They are available in three colour options; black, grey and sand white.
Features:
- Immersive sound with both Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification.
- Hybrid active noise cancellation, offers up to -45dB ANC depth effectively isolating unwanted noise, and multiple modes to suit various scenarios.
- Enjoy approximately 94 hours of continuous playback with ANC off.
- Built-in mics with AI noise cancellation technology ensure your clear calls.
- Upgraded ergonomic design ensuring all-day comfortable wearing.
- Support multipoint connection, allowing instant switching between music, videos and calls on 2 different devices simultaneously.
- Compatible with EDIFIER ConneX app for additional functions: personalise control settings, select preset EQs, and more.
The W830NB are truly wireless over the head, over-ear headphones, that means there is no messy wires getting in the way. That also means they need to be powered, and they feature a very impressive large-capacity battery life with up to 94 hours continuous music playback (with the active noise cancellation (ANC) turned off and at 80% volume, this drops to approx. 54 hours if you turn the ANC on).
They utilise Bluetooth to create a truly wireless connection between your device (phone, tablet or laptop). They employ the latest Bluetooth® version 5.4 technology for stable faster transmission speeds, stronger anti-interference capabilities, and lower power consumption. They are simple to pair to different devices with the push of a button and can be paired to two different devices with easy switching between the two devices (you can be listening to music on your laptop or tablet and switch to take a call on your phone).
They support LDAC, AAC, SBC codecs. Supports LDAC high-definition decoding for Hi-Res Wireless audio, transmitting at a transfer rate of 990kbps, which offers three times the music detail of standard Bluetooth codes. This allows you to enjoy a high-resolution audio experience.
Supporting various ANC modes; high noise cancellation, medium noise cancellation, wind reduction and ambient sound, they are excellent at reducing unwanted external background noises, achieving noise reduction of up to -45dB. My particular favourite is the wind reduction, it really works.
Wearing the headphones is extremely comfortable. They have a lightweight design, weighing approx. 267g, and don’t feel heavy on your head. They have an ergonomic design with soft, comfortable foldable earpads and an adjustable headband for extended listening sessions. I wear glasses and even with them on with the headphones the comfort is unbelievable (I’m using the headphones while writing this and had to check I had my glasses on and not my contacts in).
Charging is simple, Charging is via USB-C so you can plug them into your laptop, phone charger etc. No power adapter is supplied (we all have loads of these), but a USB-C cable is. Charging takes approx. 90 minutes (1.5 hours) to fully charge, giving you up to 94 hours listening experience (depending on your chosen settings).
As for the sound, it’s fantastic. Featuring 40mm large dynamic drivers and an independent acoustic chamber layout, they deliver rich sound quality that lets you feel every note. You can choose from three preset EQs to match your music style or customise it to suit your own personal style (Edifier ConneX app required – free to download and use).
The features don’t stop there, you can even chat away on phone calls with crystal clear clarity. Featuring Deep Neural Network (DNN) noise reduction technology, they intelligently recognise speech and precisely separates human voices from noise, enabling you to talk clearly even on noisy streets.
And for the gamers, well they have a gaming mode. With a 0.08s low latency and game sound effects, it allows you to synchronise your audio experience with the action you see on the screen, providing a more exciting and immersive gaming experience.
Overall, the Edifier W830NB wireless headphones are just excellent. Packed with features, all day comfortable wearing with a superb listening experience and a very impressive battery life (with or without ANC enabled).
The lightweight stylish design ensures that they look great and don’t feel heavy on your head or ears. They are easy to use with volume control on the right earpad (as well as the Bluetooth connection button and charging port). The Edifier ConneX app also gives you much more control over modes (you can even use the app to find your headphones, emitting a loud beep).
The quality of phone calls is just fantastic, even when walking down busy streets. You and your caller can clearly hear all of the conversation without interference.
Music playback is high-quality, crystal clear with no lag (if you are streaming video). I actually heard detail that I couldn’t hear listening to the same track without headphones.
A fantastic pair of wireless headphones with very impressive features and all without an massive price tag, at under £80 they are excellent value for money. A fantastic choice for those looking for high-quality sound, effective noise cancellation, and long battery life without breaking the bank. They offer superb value and are a solid option for both casual listeners and audiophiles on a budget.
