EnergyQC Compact 10000mAh Power Bank Review

Small and powerful for every day use and travel

EnergyQC

According to Mobile UK, 98% of the adult UK population have a mobile phone. That’s a lot of batteries that need charging. And then there are all the other portable devices we carry about and use on a daily basis, things like tablets, wireless headphones and earphones etc. When they run out of battery whilst we are out and about it can be frustrating and even problematic, especially when you are not near a power outlet so that you can charge it. That makes having a portable charger, also known as a power bank, a must have accessory for all your mobile electronic gadgets with a battery. EnergyQC have a variety of power banks with different power capacities, and we have been trying out their Compact 10000mAh Power Bank.

In the box:

  • EnergyQC 10000mAh Compact Power Bank
  • USB Cable (USB-A to USB-C)
  • Manual

The EnergyQC Compact 10000mAh Power Bank is a compact and lightweight portable charger finished in matt black. It measures 10.3x5x2.5cm and only weighs 172g. It has a Li-ion battery with a capacity of 10000mAh/37Wh and a power output of 5V/2.4A for faster charging. It features 1x USB-A output (to charge your phone and other devices) and 1 USB-C input to charge the power bank. And it is even suitable for taking onboard an aeroplane (there are rules regarding travelling with batteries on an aeroplane, that includes power banks – you can find out more here).

The physical size of the power bank is excellent, for a 10000mAh portable charger it is very compact, is a good size to hold and has a very sturdy construction. It is also quite lightweight so is perfect to leave in your bag or even putting in your pocket. The battery also features over-current protection, short-circuit protection, temperature protection and auto shut-off to protect your devices and the power bank itself.

The power bank also features a petal design power indicator on the front (a circle split into four quarters). One glowing petal indicates 0%-25% charged/power remaining, two glowing petals indicates 25%-50%, three glowing petals indicates 50%-75% and four glowing petals indicates 75%-100% to help you track power remaining and charging (you can press the power button in the centre of the circle to se how much power remains at any time).

Like most power banks and other USB devices these days, it doesn’t come supplied with a wall plug. It keeps the cost down and we all have plenty of these at home (in our house, we have several in the drawer). You can use your phone charger (if USB-C or has a removable USB cable) to charge it. With the battery completely drained, it took about 4 hours for it to fully charge.

The amount of charge you will get of this power bank depends on the device you are charging and whether the device you are charging is switched on or off. As they all have different power ratings and battery capacities, different devices will get varying charges. I got two full charges out of it with my phone and still had some power left in it (it fully charged my phone in approximately 2 hours).

Overall, this is an excellent compact and powerful portable charger / power bank. It has enough power to get approximately 2 full charges for your phone (depending on make of phone – Samsung S20, 1.6 charges / iPhone 13, 2 charges). It is small and lightweight enough to keep in your pocket or bag and is excellent for keeping in the kid’s schoolbags for that emergency power, so they have no reason not to call home – the excuse of I ran out of battery is not longer an option.

It didn’t get hot whilst we were charging any of our phones or tablets and it didn’t get hot when charging the device itself.

As a good solid power bank is a must have phone accessory these days so that you can top up your battery or fully charge your phone when travelling or out and about, the EnergyQC Compact 10000mAh Power Bank is a very good choice – it’s small, light and has plenty of power.

When we rely on battery power for our various devices to go about our daily lives, especially on our phones that are used for so much more than phone calls, with things such as banking and bus/train tickets, running out of phone battery just isn’t an option. Investing in a portable charger / power bank is essential, all you must do is remember to charge after a couple of uses!
