I don’t like bare walls in the house and have lots of framed photos on the walls. I decided I wanted something different and was delighted when Photowall asked me to review a canvas print or wall mural. It didn’t go as planned, as after looking through their website I came across a canvas print my mum would love and decided to get it for her, so I am still looking for something for my own wall.
Photowall are a Swedish company that create canvas prints and wall murals from your own images or stock images. All their prints are environmentally friendly and fire-retardant.
As mentioned earlier, I decided to go for a canvas print. These are available in a range of sizes from 40cm up to 150cm. It is very easy to select the size you want using the slider bars to easily adjust to the size you want. Prices for a canvas start from £40 (40x40cm) going up to £169 (150x150cm).
I decided to use a stock image (there are some great ones on the Photowall website covering categories from Animals to Vintage). As my mum is a massive Elvis fan, I choose a black & white Elvis Jailhouse Rock print. After some thinking about what would be the ideal size for where she would hang it, along with adjusting for the best fit for the image, I chose a size of 40x70cm. Once you have chosen your image adjusting for the ideal size is very simple using the slider bars and watching how the image will display on that size canvas. You can even choose what edge you want of the canvas (motif, black or white), and I chose motif so that the image went all the way round. Once you have the image the way you want it and on the correct size canvas, crop the image and buy.
You can purchase with a do-it-yourself-frame (you have to assemble it yourself when it arrives) or just as a canvas print in a roll without a frame. I chose it with a frame.
Ordering was simple, and you can pay by credit card or Paypal. Although the package was coming from Sweden it arrived just 4 days after ordering (standard FREE delivery is 3-6 days).
When it arrived, I opened the box and the first thing that I noticed was how good the quality of the canvas is, the printing was excellent and clear (this was a stock image so if using your own image you do need to use a high resolution one for the best quality). There is some self-assembly required to make the frame and fit canvas onto it, but this is all extremely simple using the assembly instructions provided.
Overall, I love the canvas print and my mum does too. The quality of the print is evident, along with the canvas itself, and the wooden frame. Using and ordering from the website was very easy and user friendly; it is extremely easy to adjust the size and position of your image to fit the size you require – all with a live preview. From ordering to getting it printed and delivered in 4 days was excellent and I was informed by text message when the parcel was being delivered.
I am very impressed with Photowall, the quality of the item is excellent, the ease of use of the website, fast printing and delivery are perfect. I will definitely use Photowall again and would whole-heartedly recommend them.
