SADES A6 USB Gaming Headset Review

Gaming Headset

Gaming is a very big thing these days and getting bigger all the time. And online gaming is becoming hugely popular. When you think of gaming, most people think of it as a male pastime, but it is becoming more and more popular with all genders. That said, when looking at buying a gaming headset a lot of the colour options available look very masculine and we were delighted when we were asked to review the SADES A6 USB Gaming Headset as not only are the available in black/orange but also in grey/pink (Angel Edition), which delighted the girls in our house (especially the eldest who is 11 and is really getting into playing online games on her laptop).

After getting really excited that she didn’t have to wait until Christmas to get some (she had put gaming headphones on her Christmas list), she was more than willing to try them out.

What is the SADES A6 USB Gaming Headset? It is a budget-friendly pair of lightweight gaming headphones with virtual 7.1 surround sound and “breathing” LED lights on the ear pads. They are comfortable to wear and the bright white lights on the ear pads and tip of the microphone really make a statement when playing games in a darkened room. They are suitable for use with a PC or laptop running Windows 7/8/10, PS4/PS5* and Nintendo Switch* (*Some features may not be applicable on certain devices). Unfortunately, they are not compatible with Xbox.

As they are a wired pair of headphones that means you need to be fairly close to your PC or laptop to use them. The SADES A6 are fitted with a generous 2.2 metre cable to give that extra bit of space between the headphones and your devices.

They have a self-adjusting headband that makes them really easy to wear and fit. The lightweight steel frame and cushioned soft plastic headband makes them very comfortable to wear. The steel frame feels quite strong but there isn’t much flex on it.

They also feature skin-friendly leatherette over-sized ear pads with large LED lights in the pads. The over-sizing of the cups helps to block out most external noise and are extremely comfortable to wear (especially when gaming for an hour or more). They are a very good fit.

The controls for volume, microphone and the lights are on a large inline control unit on the cable. The inline controls feature buttons that not only allow you to control the volume of the headphone but also to cycle the lights between on, off and fading (breathing) and muting the microphone. The controls light up so you can see the buttons in the dark, and the remote is large enough to make using the controls simple and not at all fiddly.

Using them on her laptop was a doodle, they are plug ‘n play and they automatically installed when they were plugged into the USB port (you can also download the driver from the SADES website).

As for using them, despite her initially saying she preferred wireless headphones, in the end she decided that wired was actually easier. They don’t need pairing, you don’t have to remember to keep them charged and for laptop gaming, the wire is absolutely fine as she needed to stay close to the laptop anyway to use the keyboard. She found the audio and microphone to be crystal clear, the virtual 7.1 surround sound chip has an excellent level of detail in games. They really enhanced her gaming experience and she enjoyed being able to chat with her friends hands-free whilst she was playing. As lockdown continues and we’re not allowed to mix with other households, they’ll be fantastic for helping her to keep in contact with her friends and she has even asked if she can use them for some of her school’s online Teams homework group!

She really liked that the microphone was very flexible and could be moved into the best position with ease and moved out of the way when she didn’t want to use it. The microphone also has a LED light on the tip that is solid up when the mic is one and pulsing when it is turned off, so you always know what state it is in.

For under £20, we think the SADES A6 USB Gaming Headset is a total bargain and would make a super Christmas present for anyone with an interest in online gaming or even Skype, Teams or Zoom chatting. As well as the pastel pink, they are also available in orange, so there is a colour to suit all tastes.

Lightweight, comfortable and look great in the dark. Perfect for online gaming.
