In our house, both kids are huge fans of animals – and believe me, their toy animals take up a lot of space (mostly because we have a 5ft stuffed plush giraffe and 2 massive tigers stalking the house going from room to room like they own the place). Then there are the more manageable toy animals that can be put away in a box and back on the shelf after they have finished playing with them.

We already own a number of different Schleich animal figures and playsets, which the kids adore, and were delighted when we received the Schleich Wild Life Starter Set: Safari (model no: 42387) for review because we already knew how accurately detailed the animals would be as well as good strong and sturdy high-quality models Schleich toys are.
The Schleich Wild Life Starter Set: Safari is a set of four animals that you would hope to see if you were lucky enough to go on an African safari: an African baby elephant, a chimpanzee cub, a zebra and of the course the king of the jungle himself, a lion. Four very different animals to let your imagination free and embark on a toy adventure safari and a great way to encourage an interest in wild animals – did you know that it takes five years for the mane of a male lion to grow fully? We didn’t, but we do now.
The Wild Life Starter Set is a fun and educational set that shows all of the animals in elaborate high detail and helps to spark imagination and creative play of young children (this set is ideally aimed at children 3-8 years old). There is no assembly required, no batteries needed, and best of all there are no screens involved, all that is necessary is some creativity and imagination, and these superb looking animals are ready to play with straight out of the box.
Overall, the kids have absolutely loved this set. Schleich animals are amazing, and the Wild Life Safari Starter Set is no exception. Not only do they feature excellent attention to detail on each animal they are also extremely real looking animals. They do not have any moveable parts but fit in a child’s hand for easy, comfortable play and feel solid, robust and durable – they are just quality in every department, whether that is just looking and admiring the figures or having imaginative and stimulating fun play time.
Whilst they are models of some very interesting animals, they are toys that will help stimulate and develop a child’s imagination, get them asking questions to learn more about the animals and their habitats, and enable them to have lots of exciting adventurous play with them – stalking the house, the garden and even the bath.
