1000 Mile Double Layer Heat Walk Socks Review

Heat Walk Socks

I don’t drive and do lots of walking and that means I try to buy good quality and supportive shoes. But how many of us think about the socks to go with them? I know I don’t. I spend a lot of money on a new pair of boots to not only protect my feet but to make walking as comfortable as possible. But with new boots I always end up with terrible blisters for a few days. I never realised that a good pair of walking socks could solve this.

Socks are generally something we get for birthdays and Christmas. We then put them in the drawer and forget about them. After all, when I wear them, they are mostly hidden under trousers, buried in shoes or boots and are never given another thought. When I do buy new socks, I just tend to pick up a pair of cheap sports socks as I didn’t think socks were that important.

So, are socks that important? As I said, I didn’t think so until I was asked to try out the 1000 Mile Heat Walk Socks. I have never worn a pair of socks that are so comfortable and cool, they feel like walking on a deep pile carpet and ones that actually help prevent blistered feet.

The 1000 Mile Double Layer Heat Walk Socks are available for men (sizes 6-14 / Medium to XL) and women (sizes 3.5-8.5 / Small and Medium). They are mid-calf length in charcoal colour and ideal for wearing with boots, especially when hiking. They contain Merino Wool, which is one of softest types of wool available and is perfect for regulating body temperature, have a double layer construction to eliminate friction between your foot and shoe, reducing wear and helping to prevent blisters and uses the unique Nilit® Heat yarn which captures the wears body heat naturally to keep your feet warm. The Nilit® Heat yarn also has excellent absorption and moisture control for a sweat-free sensation, natural anti-bacterial properties and a powerful deodorising effect and made from environmentally friendly yarn – created with coffee charcoal which makes use of the natural surplus from coffee bean shells and integrates into the nylon fibre for a natural insulation. And best of all, they feature all-over padding for maximum comfort.

I have worn these socks a lot since receiving them and am very impressed, they really are the most comfortable socks I have ever worn. Whilst out walking I can feel the difference over my usual sports socks due to the padding and arch bracing. Whilst I am wearing these, my feet don’t feel as tired, they certainly do not get as hot or sweaty and my feet feel like they are surrounded in complete luxury. Depending on the temperature outside, they are also keeping my feet cool on hot days and nice and warm on cold days! Even after washing several times now at 40° they have kept their shape, and still feel just as comfortable and luxurious as the first day I put them on.

Socks aren’t important? I have done a 180° turn and completely changed my mind – the 1000 Mile Double Layer Heat Walk Socks most definitely are and anyone that tells you different hasn’t worn a decent pair of socks. At £17.99 they aren’t cheap, but after wearing them for a while they are definitely worth it – they even come with a guarantee; if you get a blister or the socks wear out in a year from purchase (or 1000 miles) you can get a refund or replacement.

And just for good measure, if you have a few pairs in your drawer for you and you partner, these socks have a feature that let you know what size and fit they are – all just by looking at the colour of the toe stitch seam: green, red and royal are men’s fit M, L, XL while blue and lilac are women’s S, M. This is a fantastic idea and a great way to tell different sizes apart.

These are a fantastic pair of durable and comfortable walking socks (the most comfortable I have ever owned). They offer absolutely excellent protection for my feet!
