Puzzle games always go down very well in house, especially with the 10-year-old – she loves them and the challenge of trying to beat them. Solving the puzzles gives a great sense of achievement as well as being lots of challenging fun. Therefore, we were delighted to be trying out Flipslide, an electronic blocks colour matching puzzle game.
Flipslide is an addictive, fast-moving handheld electronic puzzle game where you have to match coloured blocks to each other. It’s easy to play but extremely hard to put down. It is a challenging game for children aged 8+, and also one that teenagers and adults will enjoy.
Flipslide is a handheld game made up of 8 blocks. The four centre blocks are fixed unmovable lights whilst the other four blocks (2 on each side on the four centre blocks) move by flipping and sliding to try and match the colours in the centre. It requires 2xAA batteries to operate (supplied). It is small enough to take it anywhere and play anytime. It features four different game modes to choose from and play. You can beat the clock in Speed Mode, challenge your skills in Level Mode, test your memory in Memory Mode or even challenge your friends in multi-player mode. Addictive fun that can be played and mastered in different ways.

The idea of Flipslide is to beat the blocks. The four centre blocks light up in different colours. The two blocks on either side of the centre blocks are fixed colours and you have to flip them and slide them around the centre to match the colours and solve the puzzle. You can play with friends, go against the clock and solve it as fast as you can, put your memory to the test or just work your way through the levels. The hardest part is putting it down!
- Speed Mode: in Speed Mode you have to match the colours as quickly as possible within ten rounds.
- Level Mode: in Level Mode you work your way through different levels as fast as you can.
- Memory Mode: in Memory Mode (which we think is the most challenging mode) you have to remember the flashing light sequences to complete the levels.
- Multi-player Mode: In Multi-player Mode you play with your friends. Each player gets one move and when it says pass you pass it along to the next player. The person holding it when time is up loses.
Overall, Flipslide is an excellent challenging and compulsive puzzling fidget toy that will be hours and hours of fun. It has plenty of playability with the different modes and is really addictive. We have all spent lots of time “having a quick go”.
Flipslide is easy to play, easy to flip and slide the cubes and seems very sturdy – it has already had lots of use by everybody in our house and has not got damaged in any way.
It really is an addictive toy. Whether that is to beat you own time or to beat the time of other players, you really can’t help but going back to it (even if it is only for 5 minutes at a time) – the girls have been using it when they have time to kill just before they have to leave for school in the mornings.
It is an excellent little toy to help pass the time and have fun with your friends. It can seem a bit loud at times, but you can turn the volume down.
For people that like fidget and puzzle toys then Flipslide would make an excellent Christmas gift this year. It is portable so it can be played with anywhere and is lots of addictive fun that also helps with memory skills and dexterity.
