Game nights in our house are always fun. We have a large collection of board games, tabletop games, card games, at home escape room games and games that get players to do some weird and wacky challenges. With the festive season approaching and families and friends spending some quality time together it is an excellent time of year to pull out the games and have lots of fun, especially with party games like Step Right Up! from Lucky Egg Games.
Step Right Up! is a party game of competitive and crazy challenges for 2 to 8 players, aged 8+, with a playing time of around 50 minutes. Players take turns to pick a challenge card, then compete to complete it. Throwing, catching, balancing, jumping and much more – a game that will test your athleticism and your calmness under pressure to the max!

Step Right Up! is a wacky party with 132 challenges, suitable for the whole family – kids to grandparents, to try and complete to win tokens. A game that will leave you, and everybody else, in fits of laughter. It is a game that can be just as easily played outside (when the weather allows) as it is inside.
Setting up to play is easy. Clear some space, you will be throwing, jumping and bouncing around. Empty the contents of the box on to the table and separate into 4 piles with the 4 different types of challenge cards (Popcorn Challenge, Umbrella Challenge, Trumpet Challenge and Sunglasses Challenge). Deal a Mystery Challenge Card to each player and scan the QR code for your own secret challenge (you can complete the mystery challenge at any point during the game to win a token of your choice – the challenges are randomised and updated every few months). That’s the setting up done, you are now ready to play.
The oldest player starts, sorry kids.
To play, each player takes turns choosing a challenge card from the 4 decks and reads it aloud. You then attempt the challenge on the card, which can be a solo challenge, partner challenge, group challenge or opponent challenge. For example: Human Basketball is a Sunglasses Challenge and is a solo challenge (all players play individually) – another player stands 2 metres away and forms a hoop with their arms. You, the active player, shoot as many hoops as you can with the inflatable beach ball in 30 seconds. All players have a go and the player that scores the most hoops wins a token (sunglasses).
For every challenge won or completed, the players or even several players, take a token that matches the symbol on the card. If you have three of the same tokens you can swap two of them for one different token. The winner is the first player to win all four different tokens.
Overall, we absolutely love playing Step Right Up! It is a wacky, hilarious and energic game that is suitable for the whole family.
The challenges are great, lots of fun and suitable for all ability levels. You use a variety of objects: beach ball, bean bags, blindfold, rubber bands and even the box, to complete the varied challenges. It really is an active game where participation is a must and one that the youngest to the eldest family member will love. You go head-to-head with other players, have solo or group challenges and even team up with another player to complete the crazy challenges. You have to jump, bounce, catch, balance, throw, blow, roll and shoot to win tokens.
There are 132 collaborative and competitive challenges, as well as mystery challenges (accessed by scanning a QR code), so playability is good, and the game can be played over and over again. The challenges are all explained very well on each challenge card and do have some good images to illustrate the actions. Challenges are all varied and have different levels of ability but most can be attempted/achieved by all age groups and fitness levels.
With each challenge, there could be one winner, multiple winners or even no winners. Plenty of opportunities to win the tokens you need to become the Step Right Up! challenge winner.
The rules of play are very easy to understand, they do change slightly depending on number of players to give all players a fair and equal chance.
The quality of the items in the box is excellent, they need to be as they are put to a lot of use and are standing up very well to all the throwing around that they take.
Step Right Up! is a fun family party game that will be lots of fun for family game nights or just to have great fun with friends. Age is no barrier, and it really is a game of taking part and having fun rather than who the overall winner is (although it is good to win). An excellent gift for children and teenagers for play with their friends and family.
