I know we are coming into December, a month not renowned for having the best of weather for playing outdoor sports. But fortunately for us, before the heavy rains and blustery winds rolled in, we had some quite mild weather in early November that allowed us to play a spot of badminton in the garden using the Yonex GR303 Badminton Racket and Net Set – a complete badminton set for beginners, recreational and fun players.

More of us could do with getting a bit of exercise, even if just going for a daily walk. But if you want to play a sport to keep active but is easy to learn and play, then badminton is an excellent place to start. It is very easy to learn, lots of fun and also a very sociable game. It is also considered a moderate-intensity activity so it great for getting in those recommend 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity activity as per NHS guidelines for adults). It is also perfect for getting the kids to put down their phones, leave their bedrooms and join in something healthy and fun.
The Yonex GR303 Badminton Racket and Net Set has nearly everything you need to start playing straight away. It comes with the rackets, shuttlecocks, net and net posts all contained in a carry bag so that you can take it anywhere. All you need to provide is the players, the willingness to play and a bit of grass big enough (garden or local park), or sand if you happen to be on holiday, to dig in the posts for the net.
This set has 4 rackets so the kids can easily play along with the adults. The rackets are lightweight but strong and suitable for beginners. The net is extremely easy to set up, you just need somewhere to dig the net posts into the ground.
As for play, badminton in very easy to play, you have to strike the shuttlecock over the net and score points by landing it in your opponent’s half. You score a point if your opposing player misses, and the shuttlecock hits the ground.
An excellent set that is perfect for the garden or taking away with you on holiday (it doesn’t take up much space and is all self-contained in its own carry bag).
Overall, we loved playing with this set before the weather turned foul, but it will make an excellent set for once the weather becomes nicer again. Badminton is perfect for all abilities, ages and sizes – lots of fun, great exercise and really great for family bonding time.
The set is perfect for beginners as it is very easy to set up and pack away and the rackets are balanced and strung for beginners. With rackets for 4 people, the whole family can join in and enjoy the social bonding and competitiveness of the activity together. The set packs aways neatly into the carry bag and is nicely contained so that it is easily taken on holiday with you or to trips to the beach or local parks.
The quality of the items seems very good and durable.
We have loved this set (especially the teenager in the house as she has been playing badminton as part of her sports lessons at school). It is compact, quick and easy to set up, and easy enough for the kids and adults to play together or separately. The rackets are lightweight enough for everybody to use and they feel quite robust and durable. As we are coming up to Christmas, we think that it would make an excellent gift for teenagers to play with their friends and family once the weather is more suited to it.
The Yonex GR303 Badminton Racket and Net Set is an excellent set for beginners or people that just what to play for recreational fun. It is an excellent way to bond with friends and family and is also very good exercise, keeping you healthy whilst having fun.
