Last year it seemed to be that wireless earbuds were all the rage, and everybody wanted a pair. Well, I guess a lot of people got them as this year everybody seems to want gaming headsets. With people staying at home more, gaming is becoming an even more popular pastime. Once you have a games console, laptop, handheld gaming device or even a smartphone to play games on you will need the accessories to go with them. No one wants to listen to the same repetitive music or gibberish “talking” some of the characters involved seem to make if you are not the one playing the game (there is one particular game played in our house where the characters seem to have their own gibberish language that annoys me, maybe I am just getting too old? At least it means that I have earned the Mr. Grumpy t-shirt the kids got me). And that’s just the Xbox! Then the children have their laptops where they play some online games that we have pre-approved for play, where they each sit in their own bedrooms playing against each other and their friends. At one point they had some strange setup where the set up a Whatsapp group and shouted into their phones at each other to play the game, now thankfully they use gaming headsets so the noise us adults have to hear is vastly reduced.

One of the features that the children absolutely love is the RGB lighting on the earcups. When they are playing their games wearing these, there are three different colour lights to choose from that look cool and just add that little bit more fun to their game play. The RGB lighting on each earcup covers the ear and looks great in the dark.
The headset also features a retractable microphone, rolling volume controls, breathable soft over-ear leatherette earpads and three interfaces to make them more versatile; USB-C, USB, and 3.5mm – make it perfect for multiple uses; from leisurely mobile gaming to hardcore PC players.
Overall, we have been enjoying using the Edifier GX High-Fidelity Gaming Headset, they are the perfect accessory for any gamer. They look really good, as you would expect from Edifier, and they have a slight futuristic look. They fit extremely well (they are adjustable) and the comfort of the headband and earpads is excellent with padding on the headband and earcups. The soft leatherette padding on the earpads is breathable and doesn’t overheat you ears. With their lightweight feel on your head and ears it makes them perfect for extended wear whilst playing games.
Using them is so simple. The controls are on the earpad, allowing you to easily switch between the gaming and music modes, or turning the LED mode on or off just by tapping the button on the earpad. Adjusting the volume is a breeze, there are no buttons to press, the headset features a rolling wheel to that you just spin up or down to easily adjust to the correct volume level.
Whilst they are compatible with PC, Smart Phone, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and other gaming devices, if you are using the 3.5mm cable rather than USB the microphone will not work. The microphone only works when using a USB or type C cable.
The comfort, fit and ease of use is perfect but the most important thing with any gaming headset has to be the audio quality – not just what you can hear, but your voice that other players can hear. We all love this gaming headset. The sound quality, fit and comfort are excellent. The sound from the speakers and the microphone is crisp and crystal clear, totally immersing you in the game that you are playing, and other players also benefit as they will clearly be able to hear what you are saying without distortion when you are shouting instructions at them.
