Race to Escape Board Game Review

1-6 Players | Age 8+ | 30 Minutes Playing Time

Escape

We love playing escape room games at home. We love being able to think our way through the array of puzzles, clues and brain teasers, being able to solve them to get to the next one and escape the room. They are lots of fun and a really great bonding experience with everybody working together to solve the clues. And regular readers of our website will also be very aware that we also love to play board games and have regular game nights. Therefore, when Race to Escape, the escape room board game, from John Adams arrived for review we couldn’t wait to start playing it that evening.

Race to Escape is a re-playable 3D escape room board game for 1-6 players, age 8+. It includes 80 puzzles to solve to enable you to try and escape the locked rooms in the 3D mystery house.

In the box:

  • 3D gameboard and gameboard clips
  • 6x Character Playing Pieces and Character Stands
  • Dice
  • 80x Clue Cards and Clue Card Cover
  • Clue Card Holder
  • Magnifying Glass
  • Mirror
  • Newspaper
  • Chance Cards
  • Clue Coins
  • Scorepad
  • Instruction Manual

Overall, if you love escape rooms and logic puzzles then you will love the Race to Escape board game. The box is used as the 3D mystery house and you, and your fellow players, have to work together to solve the puzzles and clue cards in different rooms to make your way through the house and escape.

The game features six different types of puzzles to solve. Use things like mirrors and magnifying glasses to find clues. Reveal hidden words or even create words, translate symbols, use the crossword, find hidden passwords and secret codes and lots of fun ways to help you escape the three rooms and ultimately the mystery house as fast as you can. The puzzles are great fun and each of the rooms has hundreds of hidden clues to help you unlock all of the doors and escape, so can be played more than once (unlike a lot of other escape room games that we have played).

The 3D mystery house is excellent and adds an element of fun to the game, it slots together easily (to build the internal walls), is bright and colourful with some great artwork. It isn’t just a game of working your way around the board – the walls are littered with clues, and you have to use objects like mirrors to reveal some of the answers to proceed.

Race to Escape is lots of family fun. A collaborative logic and deduction game that puts your mind to the test and gets everybody working together and having lots of fun.

With Christmas being a time to spend with family and friends, Race to Escape would make an excellent board game for everybody to sit around the table together, enjoying each other’s company and having to work together as a team to solve a series of puzzling clues and escape the house. Each time you play, there are plenty of different clues to make the game different each and every time.

Race to Escape is fantastic wholesome fun for the entire family and an excellent enjoyable way to give your brain a workout without the need for a screen – and it also doesn’t require any batteries!
