When thinking of gifts, glue really isn’t something that springs to mind. Even when thinking of craft kits or DIY projects, glue is just a tool to create an end result and not something that can be a fun thing to use. That’s where Sugru Mouldable Glue DIY Kits come in to their own.
We were sent the Rebel Tech Kit and the Fix & Create Kit from Sugru and they are just great. Forget about glue sticks, sticky pads and even hooks, Sugru does it all and it looks so much better!
We already know that Sugru is mouldable glue, but why is that of any interest? Well, it comes in different colours to actually make and stick things together, getting creative with your glue as you can mould it, bend it, roll it, shape it, wrap it, twist it, texturise it and lots more. Sugru is the most versatile glue around – invented to fix, bond, cushion, replace, create and seal. Not only does it bond things together in whatever way your mind can dream up, it sticks to lots of different materials, is waterproof, flexible, heat and cold-resistant dishwasher-proof, washing machine safe, soft to touch and has excellent grip. It is pliable like play-dough and sets into a strong and durable silicone rubber.
First, we tried the Rebel Tech Kit purely because we love tech and gadgets in our house and to be honest I couldn’t see how some glue could add anything useful to any of our tech devices or their associated cables.

The handy book of tech projects that comes with the kit is an excellent place to start as it features some fun and creative ideas on how to use Sugru with cables on your tech gear. We all have lots of cables lying around that look untidy and can easily get damaged but the Sugru has some creative ideas on how to tidy and protect the cables, losing cable ties, making cable grips and hooks.
We thought using the glue on some of our cables was a good place to start and followed the very easy step-by-step instructions in the book to tidy up the cables very neatly, protecting them at the same time. This really was a very simple way of using the glue and cables could even be colour-coded using the different coloured glue. Once set, the finished job resulted in a flexible cable cover that protected our USB cable whilst still being flexible enough to use. A really great and simple idea.
Another idea in the book that we will try out is making little hooks for where we need to hang some cables out of the way.
The other kit we tried out was the Fix & Create Kit. This comes with:

- A texturing brush
- Texturing thimble
- Book of 12 Crafty Projects
The Fix & Create Kit works in the same way as the Rebel Tech Kit but has different projects in the book and whilst it is a very simple project, our favourite has to making a textured zipper tab using a paperclip and the Sugru glue and texturising it to give it grip. A very simple project but an extremely handy and durable one that works very well and makes something unusable usable again.
These kits and the Sugru Mouldable Glue are extremely versatile, creative and practical. They are so simple to use and once set are very durable but most of all useable. They are an excellent and creative way to solve little problems and repairing items that you would normally just throw away, creating hooks and cable grips to sort out a snake’s nest of cables that we all seem to acquire and an excellent way to add your own bit of creatively to things.
Sugru is excellent and we are definitely converted to it. From creative projects to repair jobs, it is just so versatile and easy to use and can be used by everybody in the house.
